Privacy and data
Notis has no central service and does not receive a copy of your notes. The site owner chooses and operates the storage.
What a note stores
- The page identifier, the page's title and address (path and query, never the part after #), selected words and a short amount of nearby text.
- The name a reviewer typed, their note and any replies.
- Creation timestamps and whether the thread is resolved.
- For image pins, the image URL, image number and pin coordinates.
Notis does not require accounts or email addresses and the widget has no analytics of its own.
Where it is kept
Shared notes stay in the site owner's Netlify Blobs store, Cloudflare KV namespace or Node data folder. Browser-only demos use that visitor's local browser storage. The Notis website never receives notes left on another site.
Who can read it
Anyone who can load the review page can normally read that page's notes and leave a note. Notes are not confidential unless the site owner protects both the page and its comments API.
Deleting and exporting
The site owner can export all notes with the admin token, delete one thread, or clear the complete store through the documented API. Ask the site owner—not Notis—to remove a note from their installation.
For site owners
Tell reviewers why you collect their feedback, who can see it and how long you keep it. The technical details and deletion commands are in the README.
